Studies and pre-desIgn of next-generation quiet hypersonic wind tunnel facilities for EuropeaN strategic autonomy
Short description:
European industrial and research actors are currently dependent on third-countries’ “quiet” (low noise) Wind Tunnels for the study of hypersonic vehicles external and internal aerodynamics. SILENT intends to address this capability gap conducting preliminary research activities and offering a clear roadmap for the construction of the first EU quiet hypersonic Wind Tunnel, based on a full pre-design of a low-enthalpy Wind Tunnel and feasibility studies of a flight enthalpy Wind Tunnel for hypersonic applications.
